I managed to snap this cow with it's poo in mid-air (I hope it's not a reflection on what she thinks of my photo). Henri Cartier-Bresson would be proud. I didn't set out to photograph these two tree stumps, but the setting sun came out from behind the clouds to create such an enticing composition that I thought it would be rude not to. Mammoth Hot Springs is a complex of hot springs in Yellowstone National Park. Travertine, a form of limestone deposited by the hot springs, is abundant here, and in places is tinted red, brown, orange or green by algae. Behind and on the right is Mount Everts. A solitary cow munches grass on the waterlogged banks of the River Severn at Black Rock. In the background, Charston rock lighthouse sits primed for action.
